First Playable

This week I had some more issues with Unity on my laptop, after reading loads online about other people having the same issues I tried loads of different suggestions to fixing it and I finally got it working, however my older work had been deleted and I had to start over, so this week was more or less a repeat of last week for me, with a bit extra.

So I just had to re-create my terrain again this week, but I added in the features of my bananas being collectables, I more or less followed the tutorial in which we made the gem spin, disappear when being collected and make a noise, but with a banana instead. This was all I had time for this week as I had to do the extra work for next week, but I will be catching up on this early this week.

  1. Hi Eva! I'm sorry to hear about your Unity crashing... A lot of people seem to be having that issue, especially those on laptops... While Unity itself is not particularly resource-heavy, the assets can cause overheating and general problems when they are rendering on the scene... What I often do, even on a computer, I turn off parts of the scenery, to reduce all the rendering time and so on.
Looking forward to your Alpha version.

  3. Hey Eva,
So sorry to hear that your video crashed and you lost all your previous work! Ive been having a lot of trouble with unity crashing on me. Most of the time when I'm downloading objects to unity my laptop freezes and I have to force quit it making me have to restart everything! it Is so frustrating! How far were you in to the game when everything got deleted? Or did you figure out why Unity shut down in the first place so you can make sure it wont happen again?? Really can not wait wait to see your final game! Hope it doesn't crash again and good luck!

  4. Hey Eva!,
Sorry to hear that your're having issues with Unity. I have also had issues with Unity. My game crashed a bunch of times and I had to start again. I've had trouble with getting Unity to work for me properly where, it doesn't throw up a load errors every time I do something. Once I downloaded an asset into my game and it threw up so many errors because there was duplicate folders with the same names? How is that my fault? Anyways, I hope that you are able to fix your problem and continue with the development of your game. I can't wait to see what your game will look like by the end! I can't wait to see you explore your ideas further and implement new features into your game. I'm sure that you will figure it out in no time. Good Luck with your game !

  5. Hi Eva, I know the feeling of your laptop not working at the worst time possible. I think everyone had issues with Unity, especially those with laptops since they're not as powerful as a desktop PC tends to be. It's good to see that you have some progress done at least. It would be good to take some screen shots, even if it is or isn't working, and to show them in your blogs. Showing what you made and didn't work could help others in helping you figure out what to do and how to fix the problems you have with your game. Anyways, keep up the good work.

  6. Hey Eva,
Sorry to hear about having to restart your game that’s so annoying the same thing happened to me after I had built my whole terrain. It is really helpful to have everyone’s suggestions and problems they’ve overcome in their blogs to get advice from. I hope it didn’t take you too long to catch back up. Your game sounds cool so far with the spinning bananas. I’ve been using all of jimmy vegas’ tutorials aswell there so easy to follow. Hope everything’s been going okay for your game now and I can’t wait to see it on Wednesday!
